Timing Events with the Magician
As shown in my Major Arcana Correspondence chart, the Magician has no specific timing associated with it. This is common for the cards that have planetary associations and not zodiacal ones.
We look to the nature of the card for a clue regarding timing events with planetary and elemental tarot cards.
The Magician is quick-witted, clever and very adept changing plans mid-action. Therefore we can say that events involving the Magician will happen quickly and can be apt to change mid-flow. Quicksilver is another name for mercury found in thermometers because of its ability to respond quickly to changing temperatures. The Magician is exactly like this when it comes to timing events.
Elementally, he is associated with air and this reinforces his quick nature and ability to change direction.
The number one begins things and so it is always quick off the block. As a number one, the Magician is related to the tarot aces and you can read more about this connection in the Four Elements and the Tarot Aces.
Advice to be given for timing events with the Magician indicates things will happen quickly so you had better be prepared for when they do.
The Magician as a Daily Tarot Card
Our perception of life is often clouded by our vision of a utopian life. And while today’s card isn’t about the 7 of Cups, we regularly build those castles in the sky in order to deceive ourselves into believing that life is prettier and kinder than it really is.
The Card for the Day is the Shaman from the Wildwood Tarot. He’s a dirty, gritty fellow who’s see the dark side and come back again.
A far cry from his esoteric counterpart, the Magician, this magic man isn’t performing meaningless rituals and ceremonies. He isn’t reciting empty words of power.
He’s fighting the very demons that would keep you awake at night. He’s getting down and dirty with his work and that is what you must do today, with a little shamanistic magic thrown in.
If you’ve been kidding yourself over something lately, today’s the day you’ll get your rude awakening. If you’ve just been pretending, today things are going to get very real.
Harsh warnings? Yes, but if I didn’t tell you like this, you wouldn’t take any notice and the message of the Shaman would be missed.
You’re gonna work hard today, with real work, that requires not just all your effort, but your will to continue. See it through as the rewards are worth more than you can imagine right now.
Realism replaces delusion and in the process, you are empowered, renewed and strengthened.
If you’ve been doing spiritual work, visualisations and pathworking, you are about to take a monumental step forward. If you’ve been afraid of letting go, or just moving forward, don’t be. The Shaman is there to guide you, and he’s been there before. Trust him, he knows what he’s doing and he’s waiting for you right now.
