The Amagamated Tarot

Do you have a number of tarot decks that you love but some of the cards turn you off? Perhaps you have some decks that are ok but there are a small number of cards that to you are just, wow!?

Me too.

So I played around with the idea of putting my favourite cards together and creating my perfect tarot deck.

Here’s what became obvious:

  • Keep to the same publisher as the cards will all be the same size
  • Try and select your cards that have similar depth of colours for visual compatability

Daily Tarot Spread

At the prompting of some Universal inspiration a few years ago, I devised my Daily Tarot Reading Spread. It developed a card at a time and remained at five cards for a while before I added the sixth card, which was designed to leave me with something to think about in connection with the reading.

Psychosynthesis Tarot Spread

A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to have a psychological Tarot reading by my good friend Zorian Cross, author of the excellent Tarot blog, the Tarot Quest. I was totally blown away by this reading, and not just the Tarot spread, which probed deep into my psyche, but by the way Zorian reads Tarot. The reading itself was done on Skype through instant messaging and while I’ve edited out a lot of our conversation – we can talk for England about anything, I’ve kept the format of our back and to conversation to give you a flavour of how the reading developed and, despite this being a very personal reading for me (why am I always bearing my soul?), it remains chatty and lighthearted.

I haven’t used a free online Tarot reading service for quite some time. As I progressed along my own Tarot journey, and got better at reading the cards, I had no need to. There are some good services out there, Lotus Tarot, Llewellyn and Tarot.com all have excellent services, some free, some paid, but the lack of specifics in positions is always a let down, and sometimes, even when there is a “the Chariot in this position tells you to….” it’s still a little general and non-specific.
