Hebrew for Tarot Readers: Assigning the Seven Planets

A tutorial series by guest poster, Mick Frankel

Part Four: Assigning the Seven Planets

At the end of lesson two, the Double Letters, I said:

“But, the way that the planets are assigned to the Tarot Trumps is a source of such confusion that I intend to leave a detailed description of the Double Letters for the moment.”

Basically, in the Golden Dawn system, there are 7 planets and they correspond to 7 Trumps:

3-2-1 Tarot Spread

Sometimes all you need from a tarot spread is a quick snap-shot of the situation and the direction it’s heading in. You may also want to be able to go back to your reading and glean some more information from it. What if you also want to apply some other techniques you couldn’t apply to other tarot spreads, like elemental dignities?
The 3-2-1 Tarot Spread will give you just that, and more, as I will show you…

Soul Journey Tarot Spread

The Soul Journey Tarot Reading, from the legendary Rachel Pollack, seeks to help you understand, through the Major Arcana, what journey your soul has been undertaking during your dreams, and other trance-like states. It’s a little different to regular dream interpretation as it doesn’t seek to find what your dreams are about, rather it seeks to find out where your soul travels to and what it’s doing while there. As Rachel explains:

Journey Through The Major Arcana – Part 3

The 3 X 7 Theory: Part 3

In my Part Two of Journey Through the Major Arcana, I talked about Rachel Pollack’s presentation (in Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom) of the Major Arcana Trumps as a sequence, or progression, of an individual’s journey to individuation and enlightenment. The Trumps (minus the Fool, who represents the individual taking the journey) are divided into three lines:  Cards I-VII are seen as consciousness (the outer concerns of life in society), Cards VIII-XIV are seen as subconscious (our inward search to find who we really are), and Cards XV-XXI are seen as superconscious (development of a spiritual awareness and a release of archetypal energy). Darkness and light are the duality that is expressed through the Tarot. Where there is one, one finds the other. The darkness is expressed through our unconsciousnes and is accessed through our intuitive self (as represented by the High Priestess and the Moon). To truly understand ourselves, we need to move into our deepest core. It is within the line of the superconscious that we develop our spiritual awareness, and open up the archetypal energy of the cards and our lives.

Part Two — the Double Letters

We’ve looked at the three Hebrew letters that Sefer Yetziroh calls “Mother Letters” or “Primary Letters”. These are א מ and שׁ.
Next, Sefer Yetziroh mentions a group of seven letters that are called “Double Letters”.
There are four letters that change their sound according to whether they have a dot in the middle or not. The version with the dot has a harder sound.

Logical Levels Tarot Spread In Action!

In the previous post I introduced to you the tarot equivalent of Robert Dilts’ Logical Levels Model – a tarot spread I created and imaginatively titled The Logical Levels Tarot Spread! It brought together two powerful systems to help you understand yourself better, where you are in yourself, in your life and in relation to your goals and desires. It went down quite a storm with contact with many of my fellow tarot readers on the post itself, on Twitter and Facebook.

Logical Levels Tarot Spread

Anyone who is familiar with NLP will also likely be familiar with the Logical Levels model. This model, made popular by Robert Dilts, looks at how a person can make changes to their goals, life and dreams by examining 6 levels, or predefined areas that Dilts believes need to be congruent, or in alignment with each other for a person to be able to fulfill their desires and goals.

Psychosynthesis Tarot Spread

A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to have a psychological Tarot reading by my good friend Zorian Cross, author of the excellent Tarot blog, the Tarot Quest. I was totally blown away by this reading, and not just the Tarot spread, which probed deep into my psyche, but by the way Zorian reads Tarot. He is amazing, his skills are exceptional and I can’t rave enough about him. Seek him out and buy a reading from him – I absolutely guarantee you will be as astounded as I was.
The reading itself was done on Skype through instant messaging and while I’ve edited out a lot of our conversation – we can talk for England about anything, I’ve kept the format of our back and to conversation to give you a flavour of how the reading developed and, despite this being a very personal reading for me (why am I always bearing my soul?), it remains chatty and lighthearted.

Free Online Tarot Readings – Do They Work?

You betcha!
I haven’t used a free online Tarot reading service for quite some time. As I progressed along my own Tarot journey, and got better at reading the cards, I had no need to. There are some good services out there, Lotus Tarot, Llewellyn and Tarot.com all have excellent services, some free, some paid, but the lack of specifics in positions is always a let down, and sometimes, even when there is a “the Chariot in this position tells you to….” it’s still a little general and non-specific.
